DIT-2 Scoring Requirements

The DIT process has fully transitioned to an online format. To be eligible for scoring, your data must come from the online, full version of the DIT-2 (all five dilemmas). We are unable to score paper or short versions.

To administer the DIT as an online survey:

1.  Complete and submit an online order form.

2.  When your order form is approved, you will receive an email with the following very important information:

  • Your order number
  • An invitation to a Dropbox folder for submission of your data once collection is complete.
  • An authorized version of the DIT
    • Our Center uses the Qualtrics survey platform, therefore we have this format available.  If you plan to use Qualtrics, a (.qsf) formatted file will be sent via email so that you may upload the measure directly to your own Qualtrics account.
    • If you choose to use another survey platform, we will provide you with an authorized pdf version of the measure so that it can be manually entered into the survey platform.  Many researchers send us a link to the measure prior to administration of the measure so that it can be checked for format consistency.
  • An Excel data template for submitting your data

3.  When you are finished collecting data:

  • Export your data in numerical format as an Excel file that matches the Excel template included in your order approval email.
  • Upload the Excel file to the Dropbox folder you were invited to at the time of your initial order.
  • Send us a brief email at ethicalstudy@bamaed.ua.edu letting us know your data has been uploaded, so we can retrieve it and process your order.

4.  After your data is submitted:

  • You will receive an invoice via email for the scoring fee according to the number of participants in your data set(s).  The standard scoring fee is $5.50 for each participant in the sample.  There is a minimum order requirement of 10; online samples of less than 10 will be accepted but the minimum scoring fee charged will be at the rate for 10 participants ($55.00).  Please see the Scoring Fees section at the bottom of this page for more information about minimum order requirements and opportunities for discounted rates.
  • Your invoice will include payment options and instructions (online by credit card, check by mail).

5.  After payment is processed:

  • Scored files are typically ready and returned within two weeks as long as payment has been processed.
  • When your scored files are ready, you will receive an email that they are available for download from our shared Dropbox folder.

Scoring service:

For each file submitted for scoring, the researcher will receive two files in return: a PDF report with group summary and individual scores, and an Excel file with individual scores for further analysis.

For more information about the indices provided by the DIT and its supporting theoretical framework, please visit our About the DIT page.

Scoring fees:

The standard scoring fee is $5.50 per participant.

The minimum order for is 10.  Data samples of less than 10 will be accepted however the minimum scoring fee will be $55.00, equivalent to the scoring fee for 10 participants. Discounts will not apply to orders with 10 or less participants.

For each additional scoring group beyond the first, a $50 charge will be applied. To clarify, if you have more than one group requiring scoring, an additional $50 will be charged for each one.

Researchers who meet one of the following certain criteria may be eligible to apply for grant assistance with scoring fees:

  1. Student Researchers.  Students must provide student email address and name of academic advisor with contact information for verification within description of study.
  2. Researchers with a previously established DIT account, continuing usage as part of an ongoing project.   Continuing researchers will be asked to provide previous account number(s) within their study description.
  3. Researchers working with sample sizes with 300 or more participants.  Researchers will be asked to provide estimate of sample size within description of sample.

Researchers who meet one the criteria described above may apply for reduced scoring fee rates by completing this section on the order form.  Each request is assessed on a case by case basis and assistance is dependent on eligibility and availability of funds.  A 50% discount will be applied to scoring fees for approved applications.  Discounts will not be applied to orders with 10 or less participants (10 is the minimum order requirement).
